KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 23 — Police have opened an investigation into Mandiri Development Centre Sdn Bhd over funds suspected to be proceeds from unlawful activities received between 2024 and 2026.

The police said the Anti‑Money Laundering Criminal Investigation Team at Bukit Aman initiated the probe on September 10 following a police report lodged after a review of the company, according to a press statement issued this morning.

“Police will continue to conduct a thorough investigation in accordance with the law against any party suspected of being linked to the case,” Inspector‑General of Police Tan Sri Mohd Khalid Ismail said.

He said the investigation covers the storage, transfer, use and movement of money suspected to be connected to unlawful activities.

Police said two Mandiri directors were arrested at about 3.53pm on September 22 at the Anti‑Money Laundering Investigation Office in Jalan Tun Razak to assist in the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Anti‑Money Laundering, Anti‑Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.

Khalid reminded the public not to speculate or spread unverified information about the ongoing investigation.

He said inaccurate statements could mislead the public and disrupt the investigation process.

Khalid said police would ensure the investigation is conducted professionally, transparently and in accordance with the law.
