Taylor Swift’s ‘Patient Zero’ Holds Steady at No. 1 for Second Week on Singles Chart

Taylor Swift has scored a second week atop the Billboard Hot 100 with “Patient Zero,” the lead single off of “The Life of Showgirl: The Encore.”

“Patient Zero” is one of four new Swift songs included on “Encore,” which, just yesterday, earned her a 100th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for all of her albums combined. The track earned 17.4 million official streams, down 50 percent week over week, and on the Streaming Songs chart, it slips from No. 1 to 2. “Patient Zero” is Swift’s 51st career week at No. 1 on the Hot 100, giving her the fifth-highest total in chart history for weeks at No. 1 behind Mariah Carey (101), Rihanna (60), the Beatles (59) and Drake (58).

Speaking of Drake, the Toronto rapper bowed at No. 5 on the Hot 100 with “Solar Eclipse,” his collaboration with Don Toliver that puts a spin on Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” which itself holds at No. 2 following a record 24 weeks at No. 1. “Solar Eclipse” first debuted as part of Drake’s “Fear of Missing Out” film that he aired on YouTube in mid-September, and was subsequently released to streaming services as part of his “Habibti (FOMO)” edition along with three other new songs.

The other notable debut on the Hot 100 this week came from Slovakian pop newcomer Adéla, whose swaggery “Nicole Kidman” jumped from No. 12 to 9. The track became her first Hot 100 entry last month, while her other single, “Ain’t in LA,” remains in the top 30. Her chart presence continues to grow following the release of her debut album “Prima” in early September, bolstered by her “Red Bottoms” tour that’s currently working its way through North America.
