Ministry probes 10 complaints of RON95 petrol mixed with water

The Selangor branch of the domestic trade and cost of living ministry is investigating 10 complaints of RON95 petrol allegedly mixed with water, causing damage to vehicles in several areas in the state.
The ministry’s Selangor director, Muhamad Hanif Asa’ari, said they checked seven petrol stations yesterday in response to complaints and reports on social media.
Twenty-seven cans of RON95 petrol were taken from the stations for laboratory analysis by the chemistry department, he said in a statement today.
He said all the petrol stations possessed Controlled Scheduled Articles licences and licences issued under the Petroleum Development Act 1974.
Hanif also said a notice had been issued under Section 32 of the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 requiring petrol station owners to submit information and business-related documents to assist in the investigation.
“Strict action in accordance with legal provisions will be taken against any party found to be committing violations that jeopardise the interests and safety of consumers,” he said.
