Asian Games 2026: Rower Balraj Panwar misses out on bronze in men’s single sculls final
In the 2000m race, Balraj held on to the second place with 500m to go before being overtaken by Uzbekistan’s Shakhboz Kholmurzaev and Japan’s Tatsuya Sakurama who clinched the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

Indian rower Balraj Panwar missed out on a bronze medal in the men's single sculls final at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 on Thursday.
In the 2000m race, Balraj held on to the second place with 500m to go before being overtaken by Uzbekistan’s Shakhboz Kholmurzaev (6:41.83s) and Japan’s Tatsuya Sakurama (6:46.78s) who clinched the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
China’s Zhiwei Deng (6:38.98s) won the gold medal.
Balraj finished fourth with a timing of 6:54.80s.
At the ongoing edition of the continental showpiece, India has won 12 medals so far - one gold, five silver and six bronze.
