Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chief of the Indonesian National Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo urged the business sector and company owners to report acts of thuggery and illegal levies that disrupt business activities and undermine Indonesia's investment climate.

"Business people and companies that continue to encounter acts of thuggery, illegal levies, or other crimes are encouraged to report them. I have instructed the police to immediately follow up on such reports so that investors will not hesitate to invest in Indonesia," he said during the meeting with the Federation of Indonesian Metal Workers' Union (FSPMI) in Bekasi District, West Java on Friday, as quoted in a press statement.

According to Sigit, security and stability are important foundations for the sustainability of the business sector.

A well maintained public security and order situation would provide a sense of security for workers, ensure smooth company operations, and strengthen investor confidence.

Indonesia also has significant potential as an investment destination, supported by its abundant natural resources, large domestic market, and downstream development across various strategic sectors.

The potential is reflected in national investment realization, which reached Rp1,010.6 trillion in the first half of 2026.

Sigit assured the police would continue to provide protection and legal certainty so that various industrial activities could operate safely and sustainably.

"The National Police wants to assure the business sector and investors that Indonesia is a safe and conducive place to invest. The police will continue to provide security guarantees so that investment and business activities can operate properly and sustainably," he said.

He also reminded companies to comply with regulations, fulfill workers' rights, and build fair and harmonious industrial relations to create a conducive investment climate.

Workers and employers are mutually dependent, says Sigit, adding that companies need workers' support to maintain production while workers need healthy and growing companies as a source of livelihood.

Therefore, Sigit encouraged all parties to prioritize communication and deliberation in resolving labor-related issues.
