Yuna Anisaki Launches Kōkyū Gohi no Kuroshiro na Oshigoto Manga on September 18
Shogakukan's Yawaraka Spirits manga website revealed last Friday that Yuna Anisaki will launch a new manga adapting Kazuki Karasawa's Kōkyū Gohi no Kuroshiro na Oshigoto (The Black and White Duties of the Inner Palace's Lady of Go) novel. The manga will launch on September 18.
The fantasy story is set in the country of Ginran. It centers on Kairin, a girl whose strange black and white hair earns her scorn from all, This includes her parents, who mostly confine her to a room where she passes the time playing go by herself. One day, she runs away from home, and has a chance encounter with Seiken, who turns out to be Ginran's crown prince. When they play go together, Seiken looks up to Kairin as a master, and they swear never to be apart. But a palace conspiracy threatens Seiken's life, and they are forced to separate. Ten years later, Kairin sells herself to the services of the imperial rear palace, and there finds Seiken, now the emperor. Since their separation, Seiken has clung to the memory of Kairin. For the sake of her safety, Kairin hides her true identity, but another chance encounter allows Seiken a chance to see Kairin solve a problematic go puzzle.
Karasawa serialized the story in Kadokawa's Kakuyomu website from April 23 to June 14 earlier this year. Kadokawa released the print volume of the story on June 15, with illustrations by Kasumi Nagi.
JManga previously released Momoshiro and Anisaki's My Sadistic Boyfriend (S Kareshi Jyou-Jyou) manga digitally in English, and Azuki (now Omoi) also began releasing it in 2023, distributed by Media Do International.
Cross Infinite World has published Karasawa's Too Strong to Belong! Banished to Another World! (Saikyō Joshi, Isekai e Iku!) and The Weakest Manga Villainess Wants Her Freedom! (Maō-gun Shitennō no Saijaku Reijō wa Jiyū ni Ikitai!) light novels in English.
