‘Unbelievable’ — Prasidh Krishna looks back at watching Virat Kohli hit century in India vs West Indies

Prasidh Krishna, like all aspiring cricketers of his generation, grew up watching Virat Kohli bat. On Sunday night at the Greenfield Stadium here, the Indian quick got to watch from the dugout the master conjuring up an extraordinary knock.

“It was unbelievable,” he said, echoing just about everyone who witnessed that stunning assault by Kohli in the first ODI, which India won with more than eight overs remaining.

“Sitting outside, we were thinking, what do we bowl to him at that moment? He was striking the ball really, really well. We were all excited,” he added.

Prasidh too contributed to the Indian win, claiming two wickets. And he has been having a good time with the white ball; he is India’s leading bowler in ODIs this year with 15 wickets from eight matches.

“Every single session we go in, we are looking to improve at something,” he said. “And every game poses a different kind of challenge. When you come in knowing what exactly must be done, there is clarity within the team, there is clarity in me as to what I do when I come in. There is enough communication going on. All this helps me bowl well.”

About the competition in pace-bowling slots in the Indian team, he said, “It is great. We are seeing a lot of fast bowlers coming in. It is really good for the Indian cricket team, honestly. You keep pushing each other. And every time we go into nets, we know the kind of bowlers that we’re bowling amongst. I would say Indian cricket, in terms of fast bowling, is in good hands.”
