South Africa’s PowerBall jackpot has now rolled over 11 times in a row.

This is the longest active streak since a Soweto man walked away with R93 523 480 back in August.

Nobody has matched all five numbers plus the PowerBall since that 21 August draw.

The jackpot has climbed steadily across 11 consecutive draws – or roughly six weeks of rollovers.

WHY THIS STREAK HAS RUN SO LONG

Rollovers happen whenever no single ticket matches all five main numbers plus the PowerBall bonus ball drawn.

The unclaimed jackpot then simply carries forward, growing the pot for the next draw.

With odds at roughly 1 in 42.4 million of holding a winning ‘line’, a streak stretching to 11 draws isn’t unusual.

It does mean, though, that the jackpot has had plenty of time to build into something genuinely substantial.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

With Tuesday’s draw once again producing no winner, the jackpot rolls over to Friday, 2 October.

The estimated jackpot now sits at R90 million.
