Euromatch NPFL: Rivers United Must Win All Home Games To Boost Title Bid — Finidi

Translate

Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George has urged his players to make the most of their home advantage as they target the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, title this season.

The Port Harcourt-based club came close to winning their second NPFL crown last season, but narrowly missed out to Rangers.

Rivers United have started the current campaign strongly and remain unbeaten, with the team currently sitting second on the NPFL table.

Kano Pillars are the only other side yet to suffer defeat this season.

Finidi Reveals Title Ambition

Finidi believes securing maximum points at home could prove crucial in Rivers United’s bid for the championship.

“The focus this season is to win all our home games,” Finidi told the club’s media.

“We will give it a try because we don’t know if it will happen. We lost the NPFL title last season because we lost to Bayelsa United at home, and there were a few other games we drew here in Port Harcourt.

“At the end of the campaign, we were looking for one point. But this season, we will try because all our home matches can be won while also playing good football.”

Rivers United will look to maintain their unbeaten run when they travel to face Abia Warriors in a Matchday 8 encounter this weekend.
