Ladenburg Thalmann is bullish on American Outdoor Brands (AOUT) as it initiated coverage on the outdoor recreation and lifestyle stock with a Buy rating.

Analyst Michael Legg noted that American Outdoor Brands (AOUT) combines a problem-led product-development model, a growing patent portfolio, established retailer relationships, an underpenetrated direct-to-consumer channel, and a debt-free balance sheet (excluding the $32M of operating lease liabilities). "The central investment question is whether management can convert a higher new-product cadence into durable organic growth and operating leverage while navigating tariffs, retailer order timing, and a cyclical outdoor-products backdrop," updated Legg. The firm's base case was noted to remain disciplined and excludes M&A, subscription upside, accelerated international expansion, future repurchases, and new borrowing.

Legg highlighted that American Outdoor Brands (AOUT) serves several fragmented categories rather than one clean addressable market. The company is seen having a business opportunity to expand brands from niche to known, enter adjacent categories where consumers are relatively brand-agnostic, and use shared product, sourcing, distribution, and digital capabilities across the portfolio.

As far as catalysts, Legg pointed to sustained retailer sell-through, ClayCopter replenishment and shelf expansion, new products remaining above the normal mix, DTC progression, international distribution wins, and disciplined M&A, among others.

Ladenburg Thalmann's price target of $22 on AOUT works out to 32X the FY28 EPS estimate and 12X EBITDA multiple.

Shares of American Outdoor Brands (AOUT) have perked up over the last six weeks with a 12.2% gain. Wall Street analysts and Seeking Alpha analysts both have a consensus Buy rating on the stock.
