KUALA LUMPUR: Heavy overnight rain triggered flash floods along several major stretches around Shah Alam early this morning, forcing road closures on the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), North-South Expressway Central Link (Elite), and Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE).

Highway concessionaire Plus Malaysia Bhd, in an update on X, said flash floods hit Km9.1 of the NKVE between Shah Alam and Subang at 4.07am.

All lanes in both directions were blocked, forcing northbound traffic from Bukit Raja to be diverted to Setia Alam. Southbound traffic from Subang was diverted to the Elite highway.

Earlier, at 3.20am, Plus said all lanes leading into the Shah Alam Toll Plaza were closed due to flash floods, with motorists advised to use alternative routes.

At 5.30am, Plus reported the closure of all lanes at the Shah Alam Interchange on the Elite highway between Seafield and Setia Alam. Traffic from Seafield heading towards Shah Alam was temporarily diverted to the Shah Alam Toll Plaza.

Meanwhile, Prolintas GCE said on X that flash floods hit the NKVE interchange at 5.42am. The concessionaire said Ramp B, Ramp C, and Ramp D were fully closed.

Motorists have been advised to follow instructions from traffic personnel and use alternative routes.

Separately, a post on Threads claimed a bridge near Jalan Gajah 16 heading towards Paya Jaras was damaged and impassable.

The user, @sabrinarzk__, who shared video footage of the scene, said the damage also affected the route for Paya Jaras residents heading to Kampung Kubu Gajah.
