Nick Sirianni needed an IV after Eagles’ scorching win in Nashville

Philadelphia Eagles players were not the only ones affected by the extreme conditions at Nissan Stadium on Sunday. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni needed an IV following Philadelphia's 24-20 win over the Tennessee Titans, according to Zach Berman of The Athletic. Nashville's temperature reached about 95 degrees, with the heat index climbing above 100. The surface temperature on the artificial turf was reportedly measured as high as 157 degrees.

The conditions were so severe that Titans players were shown spraying water on their cleats to cool their feet. Players on both sidelines repeatedly used fans, cooling equipment, fluids, and wet towels to manage the heat.

Philadelphia attempted to prepare for the conditions by traveling to Nashville on Friday, one day earlier than the team typically would for a road game. The Eagles also emphasized hydration and had additional cooling resources available on the sideline. Still, the heat took a physical toll.

Saquon Barkley left the game with a stinger before returning during the second half, while Dallas Goedert exited with a knee injury. Neither injury was reported as heat-related. Sirianni remained on the sideline throughout the game and coached through Philadelphia's dramatic comeback. The Eagles trailed 20-17 with 1:56 remaining before Jalen Hurts directed a nine-play, 65-yard touchdown drive.

Hurts found Darius Cooper for the winning 3-yard score with nine seconds left.

Philadelphia escaped Nashville with its first road victory of the season and improved to 2-0. Sirianni's need for an IV afterward showed how challenging the environment was for everyone involved, including the coaches on the sideline.
