Discovery is upping the prices for its streaming service, while its fate at Skydance remains unknown.

Discovery+ will increase its ad-supported plan by $1 to $6.99 a month and its ad-free plan by $2 to $11.99 a month in the U.S. These prices are effective immediately for new subscriptions. Existing subscribers will receive 30 days advance notice

The move comes as Skydance chairman and CEO David Ellison has laid out plans to eventually combine HBO Max and Paramount+ into one streaming app. This may take some time, he noted, so there will likely be a bundling option of the two apps in the interim.

However, even at an Oct. 7 press conference where Ellison and other executives outlined their vision for the newly merged Paramount and Warner Bros., executives did not mention Discovery+ nor what would happen to the streaming platform within the new empire.

The streamer is the home to the linear programming on Discovery Channel, HGTV, Food Network, TLC, ID, Animal Planet and Magnolia Network, as well as some CNN specials. The company last reported 24 million global subscribers in March 2022, before the merger of Warner Bros. and Discovery.

As of August 2026, Antenna estimated that there are 4.9 million paying Discovery+ subscribers in the U.S., and about half of those are ad-supported members. Executives have previously described the streamer as a “profitable business.”
