Being a PlayStation Plus subscriber is something of a gamble, with some monthly offerings leaving a lot to be desired. However, there are some occasions when Sony pulls out all the stops to justify that rising subscription fee, and it seems as though October 2026 is one such example.
As well as titles such as Mafia: The Old Country, Horizon Forbidden West, Mycopunk and more being available for PlayStation Plus members this October, it is always worth keeping up to date with the late additions that are added, especially as many of them are in the library for a limited amount of time.
That is the case for two 10/10 video games that you have just 24 hours left to grab before they head back to their full retail price. So, if you want to dive into a new game as the weather draws in, and you want to make use of that PlayStation Plus membership, look no further than these Extra and Premium goodies.
On Tuesday, 20 October, the PS Plus Extra and Premium library will be updated, and as such, Death Squared, Gloomhaven, Harvest Moon: Light of Hope, Jurassic World Evolution 2, Lake, and Rogue Lords will be removed to make way for another batch of titles. However, there are two further games set to be removed, which will definitely be missed. These are the Silent Hill 2 remake and Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
Released back in 2024 and developed by Bloober Team as a remake of the original 2001 survival horror game, Silent Hill 2 was a hit, bagging itself several nominations and awards. Staying true to the original, yet bringing it into the modern gaming sphere, the story follows James Sunderland, a man who is lured back to Silent Hill following the death of his wife. Not only that, but it was the first Silent Hill entry to feature the iconic Pyramid Head, and so, if you have always wanted to discover his origins but could not access classic consoles, this is your perfect opportunity.
Here at Screen Rant, our very own Lee D'Amato awarded Silent Hill 2 an 8/10, calling it "A Surprisingly Fresh Take On A Survival Horror Classic" in his review.
It'll never replace the original, but the Silent Hill 2 remake has enough new to offer that it deserves its place in the series canon. In faithfully recreating the original game while providing new surprises for returning players, it justifies not only its own existence, but also the viability of a large-scale Silent Hill revival. If this is the start of a longer collaboration between Bloober and Konami, I look forward to what comes out of it next. For now, you can find me starting my second playthrough of Silent Hill 2.
There is also Yakuza: Like a Dragon, a 2020 RPG and the eighth main installment in the Yakuza series. As the first turn-based RPG in the saga, fans can embark on dynamic combat as they take on the role of Ichiban Kasuga, who, after being imprisoned for 18 years and being betrayed by his former boss, goes on a journey to become the "hero", all whilst discovering the truth behind the betrayal.
Both Silent Hill 2 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon are available to download at no extra cost courtesy of the PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra library until 20 October, meaning you have just 24 hours left to grab them before they head back to that dreaded full price.
