Haze eases with unhealthy air quality in just 8 areas

The haze in West Malaysia alleviated significantly as of 8am today, with just eight areas in the peninsula recording unhealthy air quality.
The highest air pollutant index (API) reading of 156 was recorded in Johan Setia, Selangor. Other areas in the Klang Valley with unhealthy API scores were Shah Alam (154), Putrajaya (152), Klang (152) and Cheras (149).
At 99, the API readings in Petaling Jaya and Banting were moderate but close to the unhealthy level.
Nilai (153), Seremban (122) and Port Dickson (122) in Negeri Sembilan continued to record unhealthy air quality.
The rest of the country had moderate API readings while six areas reported good air quality: Balik Pulau, Penang; Kota Kinabalu, Sabah; as well as Miri, Sibu, Sarikei and Limbang in Sarawak.
API readings of between 0 and 50 are categorised as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and 301 and above as hazardous.
