Coronation Street confirms returning character in Sarah's trial episodes

Coronation Street will see the return of Danielle Silverton next week, amid Sarah Platt's upcoming trial. Sarah is currently behind bars for killing Danielle's husband Theo with a scaffolding pipe.
After admitting to the crime, Sarah will finally have the chance to plead her case in court, hoping to convince the jury that she acted in self-defence. But how will her nerves hold up with Danielle glaring at her from the witness stand?

In scenes that will air on Wednesday (14 October), Sarah looks around her dull prison cell, fearing she may be stuck there for many years if the trial doesn't go her way.
She is later taken to court, where the prosecution wastes no time painting her as a cold-blooded killer.
The barrister tells the jury that Sarah took the law into her own hands, as she was infuriated by Theo's treatment of Todd Grimshaw. They claim that Sarah was seeking revenge for her best friend when she murdered Theo.
DS Lisa Connor-Swain and Danielle then take to the witness stand, where they share their version of events. After they deliver their damning testimonies, the trial takes a devastating turn for Sarah.
Later, David Platt angrily accuses Lisa of sabotaging his sister's defence. Is all hope lost for Sarah?

Speaking about her character's trial, actor Tina O'Brien said that Sarah will begin to doubt her chances of freedom after hearing the prosecution.
"Sarah is absolutely terrified, she has been desperate for this day to come but the reality of being brought up from the cells and standing in the dock is overwhelming. As the prosecution case is laid out, she is not sure things will go her way," she explained.
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
