Amanah confident of winning all seven seats in Melaka

MELAKA: Amanah is confident of winning all seven seats it is contesting in the state election, its president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said.
Its president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu said the confidence was in line with Pakatan Harapan's target of winning 18 of the 24 seats it is contesting.
"Amanah is contesting seven state seats and we are confident of winning all seven," he said.
He was speaking at a press conference after attending a PH campaign programme in Telok Gong here last night.
On PH's selection of young candidates, Mohamad said the coalition continued to enjoy support from the younger generation while also providing opportunities for candidates from different age groups.
He said young candidates deemed qualified and capable should be given the opportunity to serve and represent the public.
"PH has no shortage of support from young people. That is why we identify young people whom we consider qualified and capable and introduce them to the public.
"I was 27 when I first became a candidate," he said.
The agriculture and food security minister said the emphasis on young candidates did not mean veteran politicians were being sidelined, as PH represented people from all age groups.
On the turnout of supporters during nomination day, Mohamad said the number of people present did not necessarily reflect the actual level of voter support on polling day.
He said he had experienced a similar situation when he was with Pas, where a large turnout of supporters on nomination day did not necessarily guarantee victory.
He also expressed hope that the wave of support currently perceived to be favouring Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional would not influence voters' decisions on Nov 14.
"That is our hope. We are confident that the people of Melaka will make a different choice from what happened in the previous two states," he said.
PH is targeting 18 of the 24 seats it is contesting in the Melaka election, including retaining the five seats it won previously.
The coalition's candidates comprise 10 from PKR, while DAP and Amanah have seven candidates each.
