KIO Data will invest more than 200 million dollars in CDMX, Monterrey and Queretaro

KIO Data Centers reported that during 2026 it will allocate more than 200 million dollars to the development of new projects in Mexico City, Monterrey, and Queretaro, with the goal of expanding its capacity in the face of growing demand for cloud services, artificial intelligence, and mission-critical applications.

The company announced this figure in the presence of the Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon, who presented it with the Hecho en Mexico (Made in Mexico) distinction.

During the same event, KIO reported that it concluded phases two and three of its QRO2 project, bringing the accumulated investment in that development to 170 million dollars within its Mega Campus Queretaro.

The company announced that it is evaluating an additional investment of up to 1.3 billion dollars by 2030 to develop QRO3, a project with an approximate capacity of 100 megawatts that, if realized, would become the largest data center built by the company.

It estimated that its expansion plan will allow for the creation of more than 8,100 direct and indirect jobs by 2030.

Octavio Camarena, CEO of KIO Data Centers, pointed out that it currently competes with global digital infrastructure operators despite being a Mexican company.

"We are committed to continuing to invest to strengthen the technological capabilities that Mexico needs to take advantage of the opportunities represented by artificial intelligence and the digital economy," he indicated.

Ebrard highlighted the importance of promoting companies that strengthen the country's technological, productive, and innovation capabilities. He highlighted that Queretaro concentrates around 80 percent of the data centers installed in Mexico, after KIO installed the first of its kind there a little over two decades ago.

He explained that the expansion of data centers responds to the accelerated growth of artificial intelligence, which he described as the main source of investment worldwide.

"We are anticipating significant growth in everything that has to do with information (...) the entire ecosystem that is around artificial intelligence is going to be the new important economic growth, and Mexico is going to be part of it together with the United States and Canada," Ebrard stated.

Ebrard declared that the Hecho en Mexico distinction has been awarded so far to a little over 4,400 companies.
