UroGen gets FDA review for new bladder cancer therapy

- UroGen Pharma (URGN) on Monday announced that the U.S. FDA accepted its marketing application for its new bladder cancer therapy, UGN-103, which is designed as a sustained-release version of the antitumor agent mitomycin.
- The New Drug Application, based on results from the company’s Phase 3 UTOPIA trial, seeks the FDA approval of UGN-103 for adults with recurrent low-grade intermediate-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.
- The intravesical solution builds on the success of Zusduri, another mitomycin formulation UroGen (URGN) currently markets for adults with recurrent LG-IR-NMIBC. “UGN-103 combines our proprietary RTGel technology with a novel mitomycin formulation, which leverages a streamlined manufacturing process and simplified reconstitution,” CEO Liz Barrett said.
- The FDA has assigned June 14, 2027, as the target action date for the NDA.
