Get Your Wings, Again: Aerosmith Sets Pair Of Comeback Concerts At Hollywood Bowl

Just as so many big-name rock acts are on farewell tours, at least one is making a live comeback. Ending what was billed as a permanent vacation from the concert stage, Aerosmith on Wednesday announced a pair of shows set for October 29 and November 1 at the Hollywood Bowl — with a little help from a lot of friends.
Along for the return ride will be a slew of other acts ranging from Heart, the Black Crowes, Run-D.M.C., Billy Idol and his longtime guitarist Steve Stevens to Sammy Hagar, Guns N’ Roses veterans Slash and Duff McKagan and members of Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alice in Chains, Godsmack, among others. See the full lineup below.
But there’s one oddity in the announcement: It doesn’t name any of Aerosmith’s members.
That is key because frontman Steven Tyler has battled voice problems in recent years, and drummer Joey Kramer was absent from the Boston group’s most previous tour — which was billed as a farewell. But the photo above was included with the announcement, and it features all five members of Aerosmith’s classic lineup: Tyler, Kramer, guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford and bassist Tom Hamilton.
And here’s a teaser that was posted to Aerosmith’s socials on Tuesday:
It’s been more than two years since Aerosmith retired from touring. The group announced the “Peace Out” farewell tour in May 2023, but it was halted abruptly that September due to Tyler’s vocal cord and larynx problems. The postponed dates were rescheduled, but the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band said “no more, no more” in August 2024.
That appears to have changed.
Aerosmith has amassed 17 platinum albums since 1970 while flooding airwaves with such classic songs as “Dream On,” “Walk This Way,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Back in the Saddle,” “Last Child,” “Janie’s Got a Gun,” and a slew of rock ballads including its lone No.1 pop single “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing,” penned by Diane Warren for the 1998 movie Armageddon. After a mid-career lull in the 1980s, the band rocketed back with three consecutive albums from 1987-93 that sold at least 5 million copies each: Permanent Vacation, Pump and Get a Grip
Along with those mentioned above, here are the other acts scheduled to play with Aerosmith on at least one of the two dates: Andrew Watt, Chad Smith, Eric Church, Jerry Cantrell, Marcus King, Mike Inez, Nuno Bettencourt, Pat Monahan, Sully Erna, Tom Morello, Adam Wakeman, Audley Freed, Kenny Aronoff. Producer and Was Not Was frontman Don Was will serve as music director.
Ticket presales begin tomorrow, October 8, followed by a regular sale on October 10.
