SASSA reminder: Old age grant payment date moves into October

SASSA has confirmed that pensioners will receive their November 2026 Older Person’s Grant before October ends.
The agency will pay Older Persons’ Grants from Friday, 30 October, two days from today. Pensioners usually receive their money on the first day of the month.
Why the GRANT payment comes early
SASSA moved the November payment dates around voting day on Wednesday, 4 November. In its official notice, the agency said the change aims “to accommodate the confirmed voting date while ensuring that beneficiaries are clearly informed and can plan accordingly.”
Older Person’s Grants normally open the monthly payment cycle. Moving them to Friday gives pensioners several days to collect their money before the polls open.
The full November schedule
Pensioners lead the payment schedule, followed by other grant types:
- Older Person’s Grants: Friday, 30 October
- Disability Grants: Monday, 2 November
- Children’s Grants: Tuesday, 3 November
- All other grants: 5 November
Once SASSA pays the grant, the money stays in the recipient’s account. Pensioners do not need to rush to ATMs or pay points on Friday, when queues are often longest. Collecting the money over the weekend or early next week is just as safe.
What to do if the money does not arrive
SASSA has warned beneficiaries who have not received their grant by 5 November to visit their local SASSA office urgently.
According to the agency, a missing payment may mean the grant was suspended because the recipient did not complete a review. Pensioners who have received a review notice should act on it quickly to keep their payments flowing.
SASSA also encouraged all beneficiaries to vote on 4 November and make their voices heard.
