‘Elf’ Movie to Come to Life With Immersive Experience at NYC’s Rockefeller Center (Exclusive)

Elf fans will have a unique way to spread Christmas cheer during this holiday season.

The world of New Line Cinema’s beloved film Elf is set to come alive at HERO in New York City‘s Rockefeller Center with The Elf Experience. The all-new immersive holiday adventure begins Nov. 14 from Warner Bros. Global Experiences and Fairview Portals.

HERO, which is Rockefeller Center’s venue devoted to immersive storytelling, will transform into a storybook journey at the North Pole in honor of director Jon Favreau‘s enduring 2003 movie that starred Will Ferrell as Buddy, a man raised by elves. The experience will involve immersive environments, interactive activities, photo opportunities and special treats, all inspired by the film itself.

Guests to The Elf Experience will meet one of Santa’s helpers before entering Papa Elf’s storybook and heading to the North Pole to learn about the life of an elf. The journey will include stops at the Candy Cane Forest, the Sea of Swirly Twirly Gumdrops, Santa’s Toy Workshop, the North Pole and ultimately New York City and Gimbels. The Elf Experience will offer a range of merchandise, such as apparel, accessories, toys, treats and artist collaborations.

“We’ve assembled a group of artists that worked on the original film, as well as new ones who were inspired by it,” says Favreau, filmmaker and founder of Fairview Portals. “Miniature work, forced perspective, zoetrope and animatronics were all implemented to create a unique and handcrafted experience to capture the spirit of the film.”

Tickets are now available online for The Elf Experience, with prices starting at $45 for adults and $35 for children. It opens to the public on Saturday, Nov. 14.
