Coronation Street's Debbie and Ronnie have devastating row after hotel drama

Translate

Debbie Webster and Ronnie Bailey reached a breaking point in tonight's episode of Coronation Street. Ronnie has been supporting Debbie following her diagnosis with young-onset vascular dementia, a long-running storyline in the ITV soap.

Her behaviour has become increasingly erratic in recent weeks, but despite her deterioration, Debbie is still attempting to throw herself into her work and continue at home as if her dementia diagnosis never happened.

As she has grown more confused, Ronnie has become uncomfortable being intimate with his wife as she cannot give informed consent, leaving Debbie feeling unattractive and unwanted.

And tonight's episode saw the couple exchange hurtful truths that may see the end of their marriage.

The episode began with Denise admitting to Ryan Connor that she doesn't want Debbie anywhere near her wedding day, as she's a liability.

Shortly after, Paula, an ex-cellmate of Debbie, comes into the hotel and appears furious with her.

Later, Debbie and Paula got into an argument when Debbie failed to recognise Paula, repeatedly insulted her as "lowlife" and "scum", and her erratic behaviour irked the former inmate.

As Ryan showed Denise around the hotel, they came across Debbie and Paula in the midst of a disagreement, with Debbie calling Ryan over to kick Paula out.

At her wits' end with Debbie's behaviour and worried about how her wedding would be impacted, Denise demanded her deposit back and stormed out.

Denise’s fiancé, Stan, later arrived at the hotel looking for her after being caught in traffic, with Debbie explaining that he had missed her and offered him a glass of wine.

As Debbie and Stan chatted about marriage, she said her marriage wasn't that great at the minute and that her husband "doesn't fancy her anymore."

Ronnie was enraged when he walked into the hotel and overheard Debbie flirting with Stan, threatening to "smack him one" and kicking him out.

Debbie and Ronnie argued over her behaviour, with Debbie defending her actions and saying that at least Stan found her attractive, storming out.

Later, at home, a deeply upset Ronnie told Debbie that her actions were becoming increasingly random and she was not the woman he fell in love with anymore.

The admission cuts deep, and Debbie immediately threw him out. Will they be able to recover?

Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
