Speedy Tigers defeat Pakistan 5-4 in Asian Games group tie
The national men’s hockey team’s winning run at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games continued today as the Speedy Tigers defeated Pakistan 5-4 in their Group B tie.
Malaysia trailed 3-4 at one point before staging a comeback to snatch a win, dealing Pakistan its first defeat in the Asian Games.
This is the Speedy Tigers’ fourth consecutive win after defeating Uzbekistan 7-0 in their opening tie, before repeating the scoreline against Oman and then thrashing Thailand 10-0.
They face China on Monday.
In the 2022 Asian Games, India won gold while Malaysia finished sixth after losing 2-5 to Pakistan.
Malaysia has never won gold at the Asian Games though it has reached the final twice, in 2010 and 2018.
