The Prime Minister was seen spending time with Suryakumar's young children during the interaction. "In the atmosphere of Diwali, the arrival of Ram and Saryu has taken place. This has made the environment of Diwali even more sacred and divine," PM Modi wrote on X.

During the meeting, Suryakumar was seen wearing his gold medal from India's triumph at the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Prime Minister Modi also held the medal, sharing a special moment that celebrated India's historic achievement.
Suryakumar has enjoyed a glittering T20I career, winning the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year award in 2022 and 2023.
The right-handed batter rose to the No. 1 spot in the ICC Men's T20I Batting Rankings in October 2022 and achieved a career-high rating of 910 points in January 2023, one of the highest ratings recorded in the format.
He played a key role in India's triumph at the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup and later led the side to the 2026 T20 World Cup title, helping India become the first team to successfully defend the trophy.
Under his captaincy, India also won the 2025 T20 Asia Cup in the UAE.
However, following India's 2026 T20 World Cup triumph, Suryakumar was omitted from the T20I squad for the subsequent tour of the UK, which included matches against Ireland and England.
Shreyas Iyer was later appointed T20I captain after impressing with his leadership during his stint with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL.
Despite his success as captain, Suryakumar's recent dip in batting form was reportedly considered a key factor behind his exclusion from the squad.
