Major city roads, highways to close this weekend for KL Marathon 2026

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — Motorists are advised to plan ahead as major roads in the city centre and several highways will be closed this weekend for the Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon 2026.

On Saturday, eleven roads will close from 5.00am to 10.00am for the IHH 10KM and 5KM races. They include Jalan Raja, Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Dang Wangi, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Raja Chulan, Jalan Kuching, Jalan Kinabalu and Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin.

Closures on Sunday, October 4, for the full and half marathon are far more extensive, covering 30 road segments.

Jalan Raja and Dataran Merdeka will close from 8.00pm on Friday, 2 October. From 11.00pm on Saturday, Jalan TAR, Jalan Tun Perak, the AKLEH, MRR2 and the northbound DUKE Highway towards Jalan Duta will also shut. The three highways are due to reopen at 11.00am on Sunday.

Most other city roads close at 3.00am on Sunday and reopen in stages between 6.30am and 9.30am. Jalan Sultan Ismail is expected to reopen at 6.30am, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman at 9.00am, and Jalan Tun Perak and Jalan Dang Wangi at 9.30am. Jalan Kuching, Bulatan Segambut, Jalan Tun Razak near PWTC, Jalan Kinabalu and Bulatan Dato Onn will stay closed until 11.00am.

Motorists should avoid affected areas where possible and allow extra travel time.
