Prince William takes Facetime call during visit to Belfast community centre with Kate

Translate

The Prince and Princess of Wales have arrived in South Belfast for the beginning of a surprise one-day visit.

William and Kate are visiting Northern Ireland to focus on the Prince’s Homewards initiative aimed at ending homelessness.

During the visit, the pair will meet organisations and young people working together to create pathways to employment, stability, belonging and opportunity for those at risk of homelessness.

One venue the royals are visiting is The Commons in South Belfast, a former church that has been transformed into a new community space that aims to bring people together and foster creativity.

Homewards is a five-year programme launched by Prince Williams which aims to demonstrate that homelessness can be ended - making it rare, brief and unrepeated.

A spokesperson for the project said that over the next five years, Homewards will give these six regions new space, tools, and relationships to showcase what can be achieved through a collective effort focused on preventing and ending homelessness in their areas.
