ZICO Trust names governance veteran Mazlan Ahmad as independent director

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 — ZICO Trust (M) Berhad, a licensed trust company specialising in trust and estate planning services, has appointed Datuk Dr Haji Mazlan Ahmad as its Non-Executive Independent Director, effective September 23.

Mazlan is a chartered accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), a Chartered Secretary with the Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (Maicsa) and a Chartered Governance Professional with the Chartered Governance Institute (CGI).

He currently serves as an executive council member of both the MIA and the Maicsa and has held advisory and review roles with institutions including the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission and Malaysia Productivity Corporation.

Mazlan is also founder of Masyi Group of Companies, Deputy Executive Chairman of Yayasan Waqaf Pendidikan Anak-Anak Yatim Miskin Malaysia, Professor of Practice at INCEIF University and Adjunct Professor at the International Islamic University Malaysia.

ZICO Trust said the appointment is part of its efforts to strengthen board stewardship, governance and institutional oversight as it develops its trust and fiduciary services.
