QCPD recovers stolen SUV in Mandaluyong after breach in mortgage deal

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City police have recovered a Mitsubishi Montero during a follow-up operation in Mandaluyong City, they said on Wednesday. 

In a report, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said its operatives seized the 2024 Mitsubishi Montero in response to a victim’s complaint filed at the District Anti-Carnapping Unit on Sept. 17.

According to the QCPD, the suspect, identified as alias “Alex,” entered into a deed of sale with assumption of mortgage with the victim for the vehicle but supposedly failed to fulfill the agreement’s terms later.

Police said the vehicle was subjected to a violation of the No Contact Apprehension Policy in Makati City, adding that a healthcare professional was reportedly in possession of the vehicle at the time.

When the vehicle was located in front of a veterinary hospital along Primo Cruz in Mandaluyong City, the doctor revealed that she purchased it from “Alex” in May 2026 for P650,000. 

She then turned over the vehicle to the authorities for proper disposition after learning that the car had been reported and placed on alarm, the police added. 

The QCPD is currently conducting further investigation into the vehicle transaction, including whether other individuals were involved in the arrangement.

Following the operation, QCPD District Director Brig. Gen. Christopher Olazo urged the public to “immediately report suspected vehicle-related incidents and exercise due diligence when buying or acquiring second-hand motor vehicles.”
