KDMP managers to earn up to Rp8.3 million monthly: Minister

Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan said cooperative managers participating in the Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMP) program could earn up to Rp8.3 million per month, depending on their assigned regions.

Speaking after a coordination meeting on the flagship program in Jakarta on Tuesday, he noted that KDMP managers would receive between Rp6.3 million (around US$351) and Rp8.3 million (approximately US$462) per month.

Hasan emphasized that the government takes local conditions into account when determining compensation, including regional minimum wage levels, adding that the estimated monthly income consists of salaries and allowances.

The minister further explained that the government had decided that managers would work under two-year employment contracts at state-run food company PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara, which is responsible for constructing KDMP facilities.

Cooperatives Minister Ferry Juliantono had earlier addressed the employment arrangement, saying that the managers' salaries would be funded through the state budget during the initial two-year period.

He also noted that the government intends to shift the source of income to cooperative earnings once the contracts expire or are extended.

Agrinas President Director Joao Angelo de Sousa Mota said the company plans to evaluate the employment arrangement once the initial contract period ends.

He noted that managers could continue working with the company, subject to an assessment of the program's staffing requirements.

Meanwhile, Presidential Chief of Staff Dudung Abdurrachman emphasized that the government had prepared a remuneration scheme for KDMP managers and a decree formalizing their appointments.
