FARIDABAD: Two Congress leaders slapped each other during an INDIA bloc protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged “vote theft” in Faridabad on Thursday.A purported video of the incident, which went viral on social media, showed Parag Sharma, who contested the assembly election from Ballabgarh, walking with a Congress banner alongside Gajna Lamba.When Lamba attempted to move ahead of Sharma, the latter slapped her. Lamba retaliated by slapping Sharma.Congress district president Baljit Kaushik and other leaders accompanying the march intervened to separate the two women.
The march was held in Old Faridabad, from Chandi Wali Dharamshala to Pathwari Mandir, under the leadership of Haryana Mahila Congress president Pearl Chaudhary and Kaushik.Kaushik played down the incident, saying accidental physical contact was bound to happen when people walked together in a crowd. She added that the dispute between the two women would soon be resolved through a compromise.A Congress leader is learnt to have lodged a complaint against another at the Old Faridabad police station. However, police have not yet confirmed the complaint.(With PTI inputs)
