Avenged Sevenfold returns to Malaysia after 11 years, plays to 12,000 fans

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 — American rock band Avenged Sevenfold returned to Malaysia after an 11-year absence, performing to a sold-out crowd of 12,000 at Unifi Arena Kuala Lumpur in Bukit Jalil on Saturday night.

The concert on September 26 marked the band’s first Malaysian performance since 2015 and also kicked off their 2026 Asia Tour.

One of the night’s standout moments came when frontman M. Shadows told the crowd that the band had performed Dear God live only around three or four times before.

The song was among the highlights of a set that also included fan favourites such as Nightmare, So Far Away, Hail to the King and Bat Country.

The five-member band, comprising M. Shadows, Synyster Gates, Zacky Vengeance, Johnny Christ and Brooks Wackerman, performed before thousands of Malaysian fans known as Deathbats.

Malaysian band Langkasuka opened the concert after being selected by Avenged Sevenfold to perform before the home crowd.

Organised by Hitman Solutions, the Kuala Lumpur show was the first stop of Avenged Sevenfold’s 2026 Asia Tour, which will continue across the region.

The concert featured large-scale visuals, dynamic lighting and a production designed around the band’s theatrical live performances.
