TFAA unveils five-country hosting lineup for 20th anniversary

The Future Awards Africa has unveiled a five-country hosting lineup for its 20th edition, with personalities from Nigeria, Tanzania, Malawi, Botswana and Kenya set to share the stage at the landmark ceremony.

The awards, which celebrate young African achievers, will hold in November at the Balmoral Events Centre, Lagos.

The hosts are Nigerian actress, Genoveva Umeh; Tanzanian actor, producer and former Big Brother Africa winner, Idris Sultan; Malawian radio broadcaster, presenter and television personality, Priscilla Kayira; Botswana television and radio host and lifestyle content creator, Resego Motlhokathari; and Kenyan media personality, actress, entertainer and events host, Claudia Nasibwa.

According to the organisers, the multinational lineup is intended to reflect the diversity of Africa’s entertainment and media landscape, bringing together personalities from different regions of the continent on one stage.

The move follows last year’s edition, when Kenyan media personality, Azeezah Hashim, became the first East African host of the awards.

For Umeh, the 20th edition also represents a return to the platform. The actress won The Future Awards Africa Prize for Acting in 2024 before returning two years later as one of the hosts of the anniversary edition.

Over the past two decades, TFAA has recognised young Africans between the ages of 18 and 33 across sectors including business, technology, creativity, governance, media and entertainment.

The 20th edition, themed “Celebrating the Redefiners: Africa’s AI Generation,” will focus on young Africans using technology, creativity and innovative ideas to challenge conventions and explore new possibilities across the continent.

Speaking on the hosting lineup, Executive Director of The Future Awards Africa, Ayodeji Razaq, said the decision was a reflection of the platform’s growth over the past 20 years.

He said, “Twenty years is a defining milestone for The Future Awards Africa, and we wanted the stage to reflect how far the platform has come. Bringing five hosts from five African countries together is a bold expression of the continental platform TFAA has grown into.”
