Teen held for allegedly killing older brother in Zamboanga City

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur  – Police arrested an 18-year-old man for allegedly killing his older brother, whose reportedly mangled body was discovered in Barangay Sinunuc, Zamboanga City recently.

The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) said the 27-year-old victim was found dead in Purok 2, Barangay Sinunuc at around 9:45 a.m. on September 12.

Initial police investigation and witness statements quickly pointed to the victim’s younger brother as the primary suspect.

Members of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) processed the crime scene and conducted a forensic examination to gather evidence.

Police have yet to determine the motive behind the killing as investigators continue to look into the circumstances leading to the incident.

Authorities withheld the identities of both the suspect and the victim in deference to the family.

“The fact that this tragedy involves two siblings makes this loss even more painful and heartbreaking for the family,” the ZCPO said in a statement, expressing its condolences to the victims’ family.

“We stand with them in this difficult time and assure them that the police will continue to pursue the investigation with diligence, fairness, and utmost respect for the law,” it added./coa
