Emmerdale's Ross confirms final baby decision as Jacob and Sarah seek answers

Emmerdale couple Jacob and Sarah Sugden remain fearful over baby Leyla's future next week – and go back to Ross Barton for an honest chat.

The pair's happy family has been rocked by the revelation that they're not Leyla's biological parents – which was kept from them by Charity Dingle amid months of deceit.

This week, Jacob told Sarah that he wanted to leave the village forever – taking Leyla with them – as he'd never be able to trust Charity again.

A first look at next week's episodes shows that Jacob and Sarah are still in the village, but they're feeling insecure about their positions in Leyla's life.

When the Sugdens cross paths with Ross at The Woolpack, they ask him to repeat his recent promise that he has no intention of causing any trouble for them.

Ross confirms that he still doesn't plan to fight them for custody of Leyla, his biological daughter.

Jacob and Sarah are relieved to hear Ross's reassuring words – will this be enough to keep them in Emmerdale for the long term?

"Ross is known to be a wildcard so it's no surprise that Jacob and Sarah are worried," explains our Emmerdale source. "They know that Charity has no plans to take Leyla away from them – even if she manages to get out of prison – but Ross is far more unpredictable.

"It's a huge relief when he offers his reassurances, admitting that he has no desire to be a dad to Leyla. In theory, this should pave the way for Jacob and Sarah to stay put and concentrate on being a family again."

Currently, Charity is still being held on remand for Dr Todd's murder after Sarah threw her under the bus with a damning police statement.

Sarah has since returned to the police station to set the record straight, but getting Charity out of trouble is proving more difficult than she first thought…
