2027: PDP reacts to Adebutu’s exclusion from governorship candidates’ list

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has reacted to the omission of its candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, from the final list of candidates contesting the 6 February 2027 governorship election in the state.
PREMIUM TIMES had reported that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) excluded Mr Adebutu from the list.
The commission did not explain the exclusion from the list, which its Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, released on Saturday in Abuja.
It cleared candidates from 13 parties and their running mates, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olamilekan Adeola, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Lawal Adebisi.
In a statement on Saturday, the PDP blamed the APC, the ruling party in Ogun State, for excluding its candidate out of desperation.
“The public should be informed that the omission of our candidate’s name in INEC’s list is as a result of the undue pressure mounted by the ruling party on INEC out of fear of losing the election to our party,’ Mr Adebayo said.
He said Mr Adebutu never left the PDP and was duly registered within the designated period for digital registration, with his membership card printed, verified, and submitted to INEC on time.
The spokesperson urged the people of Ogun State “to be calm and rest assured that our governorship candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu’s name will be published … and he will emerge as the Governor of Ogun State.”

OMISSION OF PDP GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE FROM INEC LIST
(Desperation of the All Progressives Congress unmasked as PDP surges with unstoppable momentum)
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) enjoins the good people of Ogun State to remain calm and rest assured that our Governorship Candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, will be published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and will emerge as the Governor of Ogun State in the 2027 General Elections.
The public should be informed that the omission of our Candidate’s name in INEC’s list is a result of the undue pressure mounted by the ruling party on INEC out of fear of losing the election to our party.
We state emphatically that our candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, has never left the Peoples Democratic Party and was duly registered as a member during the designated digital registration period, with his party membership card printed, verified, and submitted to INEC on time.
While we urge the good people of Ogun not to be perturbed or distracted from our focus on voting out the APC, we remain resolute, unfazed and unwaveringly confident that our candidate is marching straight to a decisive victory in the Ogun 2027 Governorship election.
No amount of desperate manipulation, political witch-hunts, or calculated distractions can alter the mandate of the people of Ogun State who are overwhelmingly eager for true leadership and positive change.
Once again, we call on all our teeming supporters, party faithful, and the general public to remain steadfast, vigilant, and unintimidated as the unstoppable movement to rescue Ogun State and bring RELIEF to our people continues to gain momentum.
Signed:
Arc. Kayode Adebayo,
Publicity Secretary, PDP Ogun State.
