Seahawks QB Darnold ruled out this week, will be week-to-week, coach says

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold will miss Sunday's game against the Arizona Cardinals because of a quad injury, coach Mike Macdonald announced Wednesday.

Darnold sustained his injury at the end of Monday night's loss to the Chicago Bears.

Macdonald said Darnold would be week-to-week and will not be placed on injured reserve.

The plan is for Drew Lock to start Sunday's game with Jalen Milroe as his backup, Macdonald said.

Lock had missed the past two games because of an elbow injury. Macdonald said the Seahawks would get both quarterbacks ready to play.

"We have full confidence in those guys and will have a plan in place, Macdonald said.

Lock started two games in place of Darnold earlier this season, winning both games, after Darnold suffered a glute injury in Seattle's opening night win over the New England Patriots.

Monday night's loss dropped the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks to 4-4 this season.
