PlayStation Plus has come into its own over the years. Not every month is a winner (in fact, many haven't been in recent years), but the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog has built a steady stream of massive hits and indies alike. What started as a pivot to counter Xbox Game Pass became a cottage industry for Sony.
But of course, as with any subscription service, they can also shift content on a whim, and remove massive games that have become staples. Arecent PSN game listing was updated suddenly, and we now know exactly when one of the biggest games currently on PlayStation Plus is leaving the service (via Reddit).
According to the PSN, Grand Theft Auto 5 will no longer be offered on PlayStation Plus as a perk as of November 19. Here's the rundown from the listing:
"If you're counting down the days until Grand Theft Auto 5 arrives on PS5 on November 19, why not take a trip to Los Santos in the meantime? Grand Theft Auto 5 is available to play in the Game Catalog for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, but only until November 17. So whether you've yet to experience the tale of Franklin, Michael, and Trevor, or want to revisit it before Jason and Lucia's Vice City story begins, now's the time."
It's a bold move, but Rockstar and Sony both know that GTA 6 will be a massive hit, especially since it's tracking to do extremely well on PlayStation. Sony has been bullish on GTA 6 for good reason, promoting it as a PlayStation-first game, especially when coupled with the now-pricey PlayStation 5 Pro enhancements.
This is pretty much the perfect time to dump GTA 5, if there ever was one. Rockstar will get fans into GTA 6 more easily, and although there isn't a massive "2.0" online system dated right now, it'll come eventually.
As one Reddit user writes, it's time to move on: "I have the game 3 times already. Steam, Epic and PS3. I might buy it eventually on sale because since it got updated graphics I haven't touched it and I also kinda wanna platinum it just for old times' sake. I loved it back in the day but I finished the story a few times so I'm not going to jump on it anyway. The backlog is way too massive and I'm busy slaying ghouls and playing Gwent right now."
If you're a massive Grand Theft Auto fan and haven't dived into GTA 5 yet, there's a lot to explore, so you may as well boot up your console and head to the PlayStation Plus landing page at some point before the November 19 cutoff.
