Kaizer Chiefs dealt blow as Richards Bay confirm venue change

Richards Bay have confirmed that their Betway Premiership clash against Kaizer Chiefs on 26 August has been moved to the Princess Magogo Stadium.

The match was initially scheduled to take place at Moses Mabhida Stadium but has been moved to the smaller venue due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

The change could come as a blow to Kaizer Chiefs, who have enjoyed playing at Moses Mabhida Stadium in recent years. Moving the fixture to Princess Magogo could hand Richards Bay more of a home advantage.

The Natal Rich Boys have built a reputation for producing strong performances at home, particularly against some of the bigger teams in the league. Their Richards Bay Stadium was a fortress for them last season, with one of their notable results being a victory over Kaizer Chiefs.

However, Richards Bay will not be able to use their home ground for the foreseeable future as it undergoes maintenance.

Princess Magogo Stadium could now become their new fortress as they look to cause more problems for teams from the north, starting with Chiefs on 26 August.

Kaizer Chiefs fighting for the league

Amakhosi are not in action this weekend, having bowed out of the MTN8. In the Betway Premiership, however, the Glamour Boys are second on the log, only behind Orlando Pirates by goal difference.

Their attention will solely be focused on getting three points when they face Richards Bay next weekend in a league clash. With new signings firing, Kaizer Chiefs are looking like a completely different team from the previous seasons.
