Coronation Street's Ryan Prescott starts filming for new project away from the soap

Coronation Street star Ryan Prescott has begun filming on a new movie project away from the soap. The Ryan Connor actor is starring in Waif, which sees him play a drifting art curator in east London.
His character and a single mother (Helen Foster) try to make life on their own terms amid the skateparks, art opening and guitar shops of the area.
Also starring Pierre's Jason Flemyng, Love at First Sight's Dexter Fletcher and Big Boys' Robert Gilbert, the project comes from writer and director Rocky Rodriguez Jr (Siblings).

Ryan took to Instagram yesterday to share that production had commenced, posting a series of behind-the-scenes pictures with his colleagues.
"We are rollllliiiing, first week in to the WAIF shoot and loving it, thank you all for the amazing energy on set!" he wrote.
Speaking previously about the project, Rocky explained (via Screen International): "Waif asks whether responsibility must mean conformity. Whether a person can grow without surrendering the spirit that first made them shine."
Ryan has been best known for playing Ryan Connor on Corrie since 2020, with major storylines over the last few years including being the victim of an acid attack, struggles with steroid abuse, as well as online sex work.

Last month, the actor called for more scenes between Ryan and on-screen family Carla, Lisa and Betsy Connor-Swain.
"We had ideas of Lisa and Carla coming in from a weekend away and me and Betsy having tinfoil hats on and having watched the series Ancient Aliens," he told Inside Soap. "Just mad ideas we thought would be really funny!
"Or, doing a group Halloween and trying to scare each other. I think there’s a lot more they can do with it and it’s been very serious over the past 12 months in that house, so there’s room for a bit of comic relief now."
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
