Four factories destroyed in morning blaze at Puchong industrial park

PUCHONG: Four factories were destroyed in a major fire at Jalan TPP 5/15, Taman Perindustrian Puchong, early today.

However, the incident, which destroyed nearly 90 per cent of the structures, involved no casualties.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said an emergency call was received at 6.34am before the first fire engine was dispatched to the scene.

"Upon arrival of the team from the Puchong Fire and Rescue Station at 6.45am, flames were engulfing a furniture factory.

"Further inspection revealed that the fire had spread to four factories covering a total area of 80 by 100 feet (about 24 by 30 metres).

"The severely affected premises include a tyre factory, a pipe and valve hardware factory, a furniture factory, and an engineering factory, all of which are estimated to be 90 per cent destroyed," he said in a statement today.

He said firefighters brought the blaze fully under control about two hours later, at 8.30am.

"As of 9.30am, operations to extinguish embers on the roof and inside the factories are actively underway. Teams on site remain vigilant due to the ongoing risk of roof and structural collapses," he said.

The operation was led by the Puchong fire station, with support from Subang Jaya, Jalan Penchala, Petaling Jaya, Seri Kembangan, and Cyberjaya fire stations.

A total of 33 officers and firefighters were deployed to the scene, along with five Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) engines, two Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) units, an Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP), two water tankers, and two utility vehicles.
