Ben Affleck offers rare love life update two years after Jennifer Lopez split

Ben Affleck offered a rare update on his love life this week following his divorce from Jennifer Lopez. 

The 54-year-old actor opened up about the topic while talking to Entertainment Tonight at the glitzy premiere of his new film Animals in Los Angeles on Thursday. 

When questioned about dating, the Oscar winner told the outlet, 'There's not a lot of room. I'm not running around. It's just not a big priority in my life.'

Affleck further expressed that he is both 'good and happy' being single while focusing on other priorities. 

'I know what my priorities are. You can't have two things that are the most important in your life.' 

He continued, 'For me, that's the kids. So that's what that is. And then I have my work, which I love.

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on the two-year anniversary of their Georgia wedding. The divorce was finalized in early 2025; former couple seen in 2024 

'I'm where I'm at, and I'm great, and who knows what adventures life will bring. I'm open to it, but I'm not trying to chase anything.' 

Daily Mail has reached out to reps of Affleck for comment, but has yet to hear back. 

Affleck shares children Violet, 20, Fin, 17, and Samuel, 14, with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. The former couple were married from 2005 through 2018. 

The Good Will Hunting actor rekindled his romance with Lopez in 2021 after the pair had initially separated back in 2004.

The two stars went on to say 'I do' in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022 and took part in a larger ceremony in August 2022 at the actor's Georgia property in front of family as well as close friends.

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck on the two-year anniversary of their Georgia wedding. The divorce was finalized in early 2025.

Despite the split, the pair seemingly have remained on good terms and have also worked on projects post-divorce such as the film Kiss Of The Spider Woman (2025).

The former couple reunited as they walked the red carpet at the premiere of the movie in NYC last year in October.

While having a past conversation with Entertainment Tonight, the Gone Girl actor also offered insight into her relationship with his children post-divorce.

'For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular. Great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them.'

He continued, 'I love her kids. They're wonderful. She's [an] enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to.'

The On The Floor songstress is mom to 18-year-old twins, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony. 

Affleck recently admitted that his children don't want relationship advice from him following his failed marriages to Lopez and Garner. 

The star made the comments while stopping by an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! 

'I'll say, "You know, well the thing about that relationship there…" and the 17-year-old turns to me and goes, "Oh, like you're the expert on relationships?"' he said. 

'I give advice and try to talk to them, parent them as you do. What I found is that now it's not only one teenager rolling their eyes.'

Affleck added, 'I'll kind of launch into something at the dinner table and I'll catch them giving each other looks and I realize I'm the caricature in this story.'

The actor explained that he thought of himself as being a 'cool dad.'

But with his children now growing up, they often offer their famous dad sarcastic one-liners.

Affleck and Garner had initially been slated to co-star in his new film Animals, with Kerry Washington later being cast to replace Garner. 

The former couple would have portrayed a rocky marriage on the screen.

'I talked to Jen, and she was like, "We don't wanna do that. You just get baggage,"' he said of their conversation during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

However, Affleck shared how he does want the chance to collaborate with his ex-wife in the future. 

'I would love to work with her, frankly. She's fabulous, and we're really good friends, and I'm profoundly grateful to her, and we have a great thing.

'I still would wanna work with her in the future, but what you don't wanna do is take the audience's baggage and have it work against you, you know?'

The upcoming crime thriller Animals, which drops on Netflix on October 9, was directed by Affleck while close pal and frequent collaborator Matt Damon was one of the producers. 

The cast also includes Affleck as well as Kerry Washington, Gillian Anderson, Steven Yeun, Adriana Paz and Luis Gerardo Mendez. 

The premise is: 'Desperate to pay their son's ransom, a mayoral candidate and his wife resort to extreme measures, revealing dark secrets they never intended to bring to light,' per an IMDB synopsis.
