All Blacks captain scoffs at claims South Africa is ‘dangerous’

Translate

All Blacks captain Ardie Savea has brushed off claims that South Africa is a “dangerous” country.

The New Zealand national team has been in the country for the past month as part of the Greatest Rivalry series.

Their final game in SA took place at the FNB Stadium, where they lost to the Springboks 29-24. The rugby rivals’ fourth and final fixture will take place in Baltimore, Maryland.

ARDIE SAVEA REJECTS CLAIM SA IS ‘DANGEROUS’ COUNTRY

Speaking at a media briefing ahead of their clash against the Springboks at FNB Stadium on Saturday, Ardie Savea touched on the Greatest Rivalry series, his friendship with Siya Kolisi and his teammates.

The All Blacks captain was also asked about his experience in South Africa, particularly from a safety standpoint. Ardie’s wife, Saskia and their three children joined the team during their trip to SA.

He responded: “It’s been amazing to be in a country like South Africa. They say, ‘You’ve got to be careful, it’s dangerous’, yeah, there may be parts of Africa that are dangerous. But the majority of the time that they’ve been here has been absolutely beautiful.

He continued: “They’ve had an awesome time, the people, the people are amazing. For me to do my work with the All Blacks and come and see them [afterwards], it’s been a massive blessing”.

On his off days, Ardie has joined Saskia and their children by visiting various tourist hotspots around the country.

Ardie has also had quality time with local All Blacks supporters, enjoyed local cuisine and even visited one fan’s home!

END OF THE ROAD FOR THE GREATEST RIVALRY SERIES

Meanwhile, Ardie Savea will not be joining the All Blacks for their last Greatest Rivalry match against the Springboks, set to take place in the US.

The 32-year-old sustained a shoulder injury in the first half of the match.

The fourth and final game will mark the first time the rugby rivals will play each other in America.
