Kenya Power Announces Planned Electricity Maintenance in Five Counties on September 14
Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions in parts of Nairobi, Bomet, Kericho, Murang’a and Meru counties on Monday, September 14, 2026.
The utility company said the interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance works on its electricity network. Customers in the affected areas have been advised to make the necessary arrangements ahead of the scheduled outages.
Nairobi
In Nairobi County, parts of Kianda School, Kangemi and Communication Authority will be affected from 9am to 5pm.
The affected areas include parts of Waiyaki Way, Shell Waiyaki Way, Kangemi Gichagi, Kangemi Shangilia, Nairobi Water, Quickmart Waiyaki Way, Silicon Craft, Kangemi Sodom, Kabete Technical, End Market, Mt View Market, Kangemi Market, Kihumbuini Primary School, Kangemi High School, Kangemi Primary School, Marenga Road, Co-op Bank Kangemi and Kangemi Bus Terminus.
Other customers in the surrounding areas may also experience interruptions.
Bomet
In Bomet County, planned maintenance will affect Tenwek and Merigi from 9am to 4pm.
The affected areas include Gift Mart Supermarket, Equity Afia, Shell Petrol Station, Silibwet Market, Tenwek Mission Hospital, Tenwek High School, Njerian, Chepngaina, Motigo Factory, Stegro Tea Factory, Kiromwok, Kitomben, Mugango and Salaik.
Customers in adjacent areas may also be affected.
Kericho
Parts of Ainamoi in Kericho County will experience an electricity interruption from 8:30am to 4:30pm.
The affected areas include Gokul Quarry, West Valley Quarry, Laliat, Kiburet, Kapkormom and Moitik, as well as adjacent customers.
Murang’a
In Murang’a County, areas around Miris and Makomboki will be without power from 8:30am to 5pm.
The affected locations include Kanyanjeru, Mwarano, Njiris High School, Mairi, Gatitu, Ikohokoko, Gatiaiani, Kairitu, Ciakahii, Gitwe, Ngecha, Makomboki Market, Makomboki Tea Factory, Ngurweini and Kanderendu.
Kenya Power said customers in adjacent areas may also experience interruptions.
Meru
In Meru County, planned maintenance will affect Marimba and Kathera from 8:30am to 5pm.
The areas listed include Marimba Market, Marimba Farm, Imenti Tea Factory, Kathera Girls, Kithirune Market, Uruku Prison, AIPCA Wesley, Kaubau, Kaguma TBC, Kagwampungu, Ntemwene and Kanyoo.
Adjacent customers may also be affected during the maintenance period.
