Anubhav Sinha ventures into music with new label

Anubhav Sinha, the filmmaker behind acclaimed movies such as ‘Dus’, ‘Mulk’ and ‘Thappad’, is venturing into the world of music with his own label, ‘Benaras Beat’. The filmmaker recently opened up about his longstanding association with music and revealed that the idea for the label had been in the works for several years.

Speaking to Variety India about his new venture, Sinha revealed that ‘Benaras Beat’ was an idea he had been nurturing for nearly seven to eight years. The filmmaker, who has been passionate about music since childhood, also revealed that he began formally learning music around three years ago.“There is a very interesting saying that if you want to do something and you don’t do anything about it, then it’s a dream, and if you want to do something and you do a lot about it, then it’s an ambition.

‘Benaras Beat’ was formed in my head and in the office about seven-eight years ago. I love music, so much so that three years back I started learning it. It’s been my passion since childhood; there is music playing in my room all the time,” he said.Sinha explained that the idea initially stemmed from his desire to create music outside the world of films. However, the project took time to materialise as he struggled to put together a team.

“The idea germinated when I thought I would make music outside of films as well, but I could not set up a team. It started taking shape about a year back when I started working with a couple of composers; the whole team was set up, and now we have created some exclusive songs,” he added.

Anubhav Sinha’s Benaras Beat to release new music

With his team now in place, Sinha is preparing to release original music under the ‘Benaras Beat’ banner. The filmmaker has revealed that several songs have already been created and are expected to be released soon.However, details about the upcoming tracks, including the composers involved and other collaborators, are currently being kept under wraps.
