A 14-point lead with a quarter to play usually ends a game. For the Dallas Cowboys, it ended their afternoon in the worst way. The Arizona Cardinals stormed back behind backup quarterback Gardner Minshew and stole a 33-30 overtime win at AT&T Stadium, dropping Dallas to 3-5. Former Cowboys quarterback Ben DiNucci went on CBS Sports and held nothing back. His verdict was blunt, and it landed hard in a fan base that has heard the same story for years. Now the questions around head coach Brian Schottenheimer are getting louder.
Ben DiNucci Says Dallas Cowboys Need Change After Loss to Arizona Cardinals
Ben DiNucci spent time in that locker room, so his words carry weight. He did not soften them.
"This was absolutely embarrassing today. They stink. I'm lost for words, honestly. They have so much talent on both sides of the ball, and year after year, week after week, all we see is just letdowns from them."
He kept going, and his next point cut deeper.

"Something needs to change. Somebody needs to look themselves in the mirror. I don't know who it is, but that was an embarrassing loss for them. They had a 10-point lead with a couple of minutes left. They let Arizona drive the length of the field a couple of times, tied that thing up, should have lost in regulation, ended up losing in overtime. But this is embarrassing for the Cowboys. It was embarrassing."
Gardner Minshew Powers Arizona Cardinals Past Dallas Cowboys In Overtime
Gardner Minshew came off the bench for Jacoby Brissett in the third quarter and changed everything. He hit 17 of 23 passes for 188 yards and three touchdowns. Arizona scored on every one of its final four drives in regulation, and the last march covered 80 yards in just 1:03.
Dak Prescott did his part early. He finished with 195 passing yards and added a five-yard rushing score for a 24-10 edge. Yet the Cowboys gained only 261 yards all day, while Arizona piled up 467. Tyler Allgeier ran for 147 yards on just 11 carries, and the Dallas defense never found an answer.
Schottenheimer summed it up after the game. "It was a tale of two halves, for sure," he said.
Dallas lost 34-31 to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3 and fell to the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 5. Owner and general manager Jerry Jones has said he will not fire Schottenheimer during the season. With a weak NFC East still within reach, the Cowboys have time to fix this. They just need to finish what they start.
