The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested two suspected car thieves at Ladanai Junction, along the Eastern Bypass, Kano.

The State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mohammed Agalama, confirmed the arrest during a news conference held at the command’s headquarters on Friday.

“The NSCDC Kano State Command wishes to inform the public of the arrest of two suspected car thieves during a routine patrol operation by our operatives at Ladanai Junction, along the Eastern Bypass, Kano,” he said.

“The suspects, identified as Abdullahi Sani, 61, and Abdullahi Suleiman, 63, residents of Kurna Tudun Bojuwa and Kantudu, Dala Local Government Area, were intercepted by our personnel while on routine duty in the area,” he added.

Agalama said a suspected stolen red Toyota Carina II Wagon, with registration number LFA 417 AA (Nasarawa), was recovered in connection with the incident.

“They were driving the vehicle out of the Ladanai area around 2:10 am when our personnel on duty intercepted and nabbed them. The car was reported to have been stolen three days ago,” he added.

Meanwhile, the corps also arrested a suspected vandal at Bompai, Nassarawa Local Government Area, after he allegedly vandalised an armoured cable belonging to Triumph Nigeria Limited.

The suspect, 45-year-old Suleiman Shehu, is a staff member of the company and was apprehended by corps operatives after allegedly committing the offence.

The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing preliminary investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the vehicle theft and vandalism cases and determine their possible involvement in the alleged offences.

Agalama said the suspects would be prosecuted upon the conclusion of the investigation.

He commended the vigilance and professionalism of the operatives for their timely intervention, stressing that the arrests demonstrated the importance of routine patrols and intelligence-driven operations in preventing and combating criminal activities across the state.

He assured the people of Kano State that the command would continue to strengthen its operations in collaboration with other sister security agencies and members of the public to protect lives and property.

“We, therefore, urge members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly provide credible information on suspicious activities to security agencies,” he said.
