‘Rarely Encountered’ –Schuurs Admits Arokodare Posed Unique Challenge In Ajax, NEC Stalemate
Dutch centre-back Perr Schuurs has disclosed that Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare possesses physical and stylistic qualities he has rarely encountered throughout his professional career.
The defender made the admission on the back of Ajax’s hard-fought 1-1 draw against NEC Nijmegen at the Johan Cruijff ArenA on Saturday.

Speaking in a chat with De Telegraaf, as reported by Livescore, Schuurs described the towering Nigerian international as a uniquely challenging striker to defend against.
“I had already expected a lot. But when the match started it was actually even more than I had thought beforehand,” Schuurs said.
Having spent four years in the Eredivisie before testing himself in Italy’s Serie A with Torino, where he faced elite physical powerhouses like Romelu Lukaku, Schuurs noted that Arokodare operates quite differently, making him exceptionally difficult to pin down over 90 minutes.

“Honestly, no. I played in the Eredivisie for four years and I had never come up against a striker like that. And in Italy you do not often see this type either,” Schuurs explained.
“People mention Lukaku, but he is still a different type of player. Tolu wants the ball on his chest or in the air more often.”
