Northern Region NDC urges unity after internal polls, eyes 2028 victory

The Northern Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged newly elected officers and unsuccessful candidates to close ranks after the party’s branch and constituency elections across the region.
In a statement signed by Regional Secretary King Salam, the Secretariat congratulated the elected officers and urged them to lead with humility, fairness and a commitment to unity.
“Your election is a clear expression of the confidence party members have placed in you. We urge you to lead with humility and fairness, and to serve as a unifying force for every member in your area,” the statement said.
The Secretariat also commended unsuccessful candidates, saying their participation had contributed to the party’s democratic tradition.
“The outcome of an election does not diminish your worth or your place in the NDC family,” it said.
“The party still needs your experience, energy and commitment, and we count on you to remain active in its work.”
The statement thanked delegates, supporters and party members for their peaceful participation, describing it as a demonstration of discipline and commitment to internal democracy.
It urged members to put electoral differences behind them and focus on strengthening the party.
“Competition was for a season; collaboration must now define our path forward. We call on all winners and losers, together with their supporters, to close ranks and build stronger bonds of unity,” the statement said.
“There are no factions in the NDC. There is only one family with one goal.”
The Secretariat said the priority was to consolidate the party’s gains, strengthen its structures and work towards victory in the 2028 general elections.
