Kaizer Chiefs move league match to smaller Soweto stadium

The highly anticipated Kaizer Chiefs home fixture was originally scheduled for Saturday, 5 September 2026. It was set to take place at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

However, the match has now been moved to Sunday, 6 September 2026. Kick-off has also been confirmed for 17:30.

KAIZER CHIEFS MAKE FINAL CALL

The venue has changed as well. The fixture will now be played at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto.

The announcement puts an end to recent confusion surrounding the fixture. Earlier reports had suggested that the match would instead be brought forward to Wednesday, 2 September.

Those reports followed announcements from Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. However, Kaizer Chiefs have now clarified the situation and confirmed the final arrangements.

The decision to move the match to Soweto will be welcomed by supporters. The Glamour Boys will now return to familiar surroundings for the important league encounter.

The timing of the fixture is also significant for both clubs. Kaizer Chiefs currently occupy third place on the Betway Premiership table.

The Soweto giants have collected eight points from their opening four matches. They remain close behind early leaders Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.

SIWELELE F.C DESPERATE FOR POINTS

The situation is very different for Siwelele at this stage of the campaign. They currently sit 14th on the Betway Premiership table with just two points.

The upcoming clash therefore presents a major opportunity for the struggling side. A positive result against Kaizer Chiefs could provide a much-needed boost.

For Amakhosi, dropping points would create pressure in the title race. The Soweto giants will be looking to use home advantage and maintain their strong start.
